Waukee has the newest housing of any city we serve, and that shapes the house cleaning we do here. Eight in ten Waukee homes were built since 2000, and more than half since 2010. The median Waukee home dates to 2011. One in six homes was built in 2020 or later. Nowhere else we work comes close: West Des Moines' median home is from 1994, Johnston's from 2004, and half of Des Moines proper predates 1960.
Waukee is also where people move into the metro. About one in six residents lived somewhere else a year ago, and one in ten came from outside Dallas County altogether. Nearly four in ten households have kids at home. A lot of our Waukee work is the first clean in a new-to-you house, and then keeping it that way.
We are a locally owned company run by Stephanie and Tony Dacey, based in Urbandale, about 15 minutes east on Hickman Road. Diamond House Cleaning is locally owned and fully insured, and every cleaner who enters your home is background-checked.
Moving to Waukee? Start with a clean house
Waukee has grown from about 5,000 people in 2000 to nearly 30,000 today, and most of the homes here have had only one or two owners. Our crews spend much of their week helping new arrivals start on a clean slate.
The best day to clean a house is the day before the boxes arrive. Empty rooms are quick to clean and impossible to hide anything in: the inside of every cabinet, the tops of the fridge and the kitchen cabinets, the window tracks, the light fixtures, the vents, and the closet shelves. A move-in cleaning gets all of it before your things go in. If you are past that point, a deep cleaning in the first month does the same job around the furniture.
Either way, you start from a real baseline. Then the recurring visits keep it there.
The previous owner's idea of clean was not yours, and a builder's final clean is a broom sweep. Our move-in clean covers inside appliances, inside cabinets and drawers, baseboards, door frames, window sills and tracks, and every bathroom top to bottom.
Fine drywall dust settles in ductwork, on top of cabinets, and inside closets long after move-in, and it keeps showing up on dark counters and floors. In a home built in the last few years we wipe high surfaces and vent covers on every visit until it stops.
Quartz, glass shower doors, stainless fronts, luxury vinyl plank, and light grout are standard in Waukee. Each one shows a rushed wipe-down. We use the right product on each and leave no streaks.

The city covers 22 square miles of Dallas County and is still adding streets on its west and south edges. We clean in all of it. These are the areas we are in most often.
The Triangle and the original town
Downtown Waukee, around Ashworth Drive and 6th Street, where the town was laid out in 1869 along the Milwaukee Road line and incorporated in 1878. Triangle Park and the Raccoon River Valley Trail trailhead sit here, and the streets around them hold the city's older homes. Only about one in ten Waukee homes predates 1980, and most of them are in this part of town. The one part of the city where we work the way we do in Des Moines, with more time on trim and woodwork.
The 1990s and 2000s core
The neighborhoods that filled in along Hickman Road and University Avenue as Waukee grew from a small town into a suburb. About a third of the city's homes were built between 1990 and 2009: two-stories and ranches with finished basements, often on a second owner who has updated the kitchen. The steady core of our recurring work in Waukee.
Kettlestone and the south side
The city's second center, growing up around the Grand Prairie Parkway interchange with Interstate 80. Kettlestone mixes new apartments, townhomes, and single-family streets with the shopping and restaurants that go with them. Almost everything here was built in the last ten years, with the newest finishes in the city.
The newest subdivisions, west and northwest
One in six Waukee homes was built in 2020 or later, more than anywhere else we serve. Most of them are on the west and northwest side, out past Waukee Northwest High School, which opened in 2021. Large homes, four or more bedrooms, three or more bathrooms, and a first year of construction dust. More than a third of Waukee homes have four or more bedrooms, and the newest streets are where most of them are.
It does not matter which part of the city you are in. If you are in Waukee, we cover you.
The services Waukee households book most
Recurring cleaning, weekly or every other week
The steady core of our Waukee work. Our recurring cleaning clients get the same crew each visit, so nobody has to be re-briefed on the dog, the garage code, or which bathroom the kids use. Nearly four in ten Waukee households have children at home and the school district is the fastest-growing in Iowa, so we schedule around practices, pickups, and summer.
Move-in and move-out cleaning
One in six Waukee residents moved in the last year, and a third of households rent. That is a lot of closings and a lot of lease ends. Our move out cleaning is done to the standard a buyer's walkthrough or a landlord inspection actually expects: inside appliances, inside cabinets, baseboards, window tracks, and every bathroom. The same clean, done the day before you move in, is the best start a new house can get.
Deep cleaning
Where we recommend starting in a home you did not get to clean empty. A deep cleaning covers grout, glass shower doors, inside the oven and fridge, ceiling fans, window tracks, vent covers, and the built-up film on cabinet fronts that ordinary weekly tidying never reaches. It gets the house to a baseline that is realistic to maintain.
Apartment and townhome cleaning
Nearly one in four Waukee homes is in a building of five or more units, and another one in eight is an attached townhome, most of them built in the last decade around Kettlestone and along Hickman Road. Our apartment cleaning is priced by the space you actually have, and our $125 minimum covers most one-bedroom units in full. We are used to leasing-office access, key fobs, and garage codes.
Why Waukee households hire us
Waukee has plenty of cleaning options, including national franchises and app-based gig platforms. We are neither.
- We are local, and we are close. Our team is based in Urbandale, about 15 minutes east on Hickman Road or Interstate 80. When you call 515-513-3187, you reach us, not a call center in another state.
- We know new houses. Quartz, glass, stainless, LVP, light grout, and the construction dust that lingers in a home's first year are most of our week in Waukee. They get the right product and a streak-free finish, not a generic all-purpose wipe.
- We work while you are at work. Half of Waukee's workers commute out of Dallas County, and about one in five works from home. Either way, we are used to garage codes, lockboxes, and working quietly around a home office.
- We are insured and background-checked. Every cleaner is vetted before they set foot in a client's house, apartment, or townhome.
- You get the same crew. Wherever possible we keep the same cleaners on the same home. That familiarity is most of what makes recurring service worth paying for.
- No contracts. Reschedule, skip a visit, or change your plan whenever you need to. We never charge a cancellation fee.
What it costs
We do not publish a single flat rate for Waukee because a downtown bungalow, a 2000s two-story off University Avenue, and a five-bedroom built last year are not the same job. What we do publish is our actual math: $50 per hour with a $125 minimum, estimated by the number of rooms and the type of clean.
One thing worth being honest about: Waukee houses are big. More than a third have four or more bedrooms, and bathroom count moves the price more than square footage does. A three-bath home takes longer than a one-bath home of the same size, and we will tell you that up front rather than after the fact.
First-time clients get 50% off the second cleaning when the first is booked. No promo code, no catch.
Get a real number in about a minute with our instant quote tool, or call 515-513-3187 and we will walk through it.
