Adel is really two towns sharing one ZIP code, and we clean both. The first is the county seat that was here before Des Moines was a city: incorporated in 1847, the Dallas County Courthouse finished in 1902, and a downtown square still paved in brick. About four in ten Adel homes were built before 1980, and one in six before 1940.
The second town went up in the last fifteen years. Adel's population grew 75 percent between 2010 and today, from about 3,700 people to more than 6,400, and four in ten homes in the city were built since 2010. Almost nothing was built in between: fewer than one home in five dates from 1980 to 2009. So a cleaning company here has to be good at two very different houses, the 1910 two-story with original woodwork and the 2019 ranch with quartz counters, and it has to know which one it is walking into.
We are a locally owned company run by Stephanie and Tony Dacey, based in Urbandale, about 25 minutes east on Highway 6. Diamond House Cleaning is locally owned and fully insured, and every cleaner who enters your home is background-checked.
Old house or new house? We clean them differently
Most of the metro is one era of housing. Adel is two, with very little in the middle. Here is what changes when our crew walks in the door.
A house built in 1915 and a house built in 2021 do not get dirty the same way and do not come clean the same way. In the old part of town the work is in the details: painted trim with a century of layers, tall baseboards, radiator fins, wood floors that want a damp mop and not a wet one, and windows with real sills. In the new subdivisions the work is on the surfaces: quartz, glass, stainless, and light grout that show every rushed wipe-down, plus the fine drywall dust that keeps turning up in a house's first year.
Same crew, same standard, different checklist. We ask which kind of house you have when you book, and we bring the right products for it.
Homes here are mostly pre-war, and one in six Adel homes predates 1940. We spend our time on woodwork, trim, built-ins, and the corners a modern open-plan house does not have. No harsh chemicals on old finishes, and no soaking wet mops on hardwood.
Four in ten Adel homes were built since 2010, and most of them are on the south and west sides. Quartz, glass shower doors, luxury vinyl plank, and stainless fronts each get the right product and a streak-free finish. In a home under three years old we wipe high surfaces and vent covers every visit until the construction dust stops.
One in six Adel residents moved in the past year. The best time to clean a house is the day before the boxes arrive, whether it is a builder's broom-swept new build or a 1920s home with a previous owner's idea of clean. A move-in cleaning covers inside cabinets, inside appliances, window tracks, closet shelves, and every bathroom.

Adel is small enough that we cover the whole city, but it helps to know where we are most often.
The courthouse square and the historic district
Downtown Adel is built around the Dallas County Courthouse, a limestone chateau finished in 1902, and the surrounding blocks of brick streets, which the city rebuilt in 2010 with the original bricks. The Adel Public Square Historic District is on the National Register. The streets fanning out from it hold the city's oldest homes, and the second Saturday in August they hold the Sweet Corn Festival and Dallas County's largest parade. Our most detail-heavy work in Adel is here.
The river, the trail, and the mid-century streets
Adel sits on the North Raccoon River, and the Raccoon River Valley Trail runs through town on the old Milwaukee Road grade toward Waukee one way and Redfield the other. The 1950s through 1970s ranches and split-levels between downtown and the newer edges of town are the steady middle of our recurring work: solid houses, often on a second or third owner, that mostly want a consistent every-other-week clean.
Southbridge and the south side
The biggest reason Adel grew. Southbridge is a 380-acre development on the south edge of the city whose first plat of single-family lots was finished in 2018, with townhomes, more plats, and senior living added since. Almost every house here is under ten years old, with the newest finishes in Adel and the first-year construction dust that comes with them.
Timberview and the west and north edges
Newer single-family streets, many of them walkout lots backing onto timber, along with the growing number of townhomes and small apartment buildings on the city's edges. About one in ten Adel homes is in a building of 20 or more units, and another one in ten is a duplex, triplex, or fourplex. We are used to leasing-office access, garage codes, and lockboxes.
It does not matter which part of the city you are in. If you are in Adel, we cover you.
The services Adel households book most
Recurring cleaning, weekly or every other week
The steady core of our Adel work. Our recurring cleaning clients get the same crew each visit, so nobody has to be re-briefed on the dog, the garage code, or which room is off limits. Nearly four in ten Adel households have children at home, and the ADM school calendar runs a lot of them, so we schedule around practices, pickups, and the Sweet Corn Festival weekend.
Deep cleaning for older homes
Four in ten Adel homes were built before 1980, and a house that old accumulates more than a weekly clean can reach. A deep cleaning covers painted trim and tall baseboards, radiator fins, the tops of built-ins and door frames, window sills and storm-window tracks, grout, and inside the oven and fridge. It is also where we recommend starting in any house you did not get to clean empty.
Move-in and move-out cleaning
One in six Adel residents moved in the last year, and about a third of households rent. Our move out cleaning is done to the standard a buyer's walkthrough or a landlord inspection actually expects: inside appliances, inside cabinets, baseboards, window tracks, and every bathroom. The same clean, done the day before you move in, is the best start a new house can get.
Apartment and townhome cleaning
Adel has more apartments and townhomes than most people expect for a town its size: about one in ten homes is in a building of 20 or more units, and another one in ten is a duplex, triplex, or fourplex. Our apartment cleaning is priced by the space you actually have, and our $125 minimum covers most one-bedroom units in full.
Why Adel households hire us
Adel is far enough west that some Des Moines cleaning companies will not come, and small enough that the ones who do are often one person with a car. We are neither.
- We make the drive. Our team is based in Urbandale, about 25 minutes east on Highway 6. Adel is a regular stop on our schedule, not a special request, and you reach us at 515-513-3187, not a call center.
- We know both kinds of house. A 1910 foursquare and a 2021 ranch get different products and a different checklist. We ask which one you have before the first visit.
- We work while you are at work. A third of Adel's workers commute out of Dallas County, and about one in six works from home. Either way, we are used to garage codes, lockboxes, and working quietly around a home office.
- We are insured and background-checked. Every cleaner is vetted before they set foot in a client's house, apartment, or townhome.
- You get the same crew. Wherever possible we keep the same cleaners on the same home. That familiarity is most of what makes recurring service worth paying for.
- No contracts. Reschedule, skip a visit, or change your plan whenever you need to. We never charge a cancellation fee.
What it costs
We do not publish a single flat rate for Adel because a two-bedroom bungalow near the square, a 1970s ranch by the trail, and a four-bedroom in Southbridge are not the same job. What we do publish is our actual math: $50 per hour with a $125 minimum, estimated by the number of rooms and the type of clean.
One thing worth being honest about: more than a third of Adel homes have four or more bedrooms, and bathroom count moves the price more than square footage does. An older home with a lot of trim and woodwork also takes longer than a newer one of the same size on the first visit, and we will tell you that up front rather than after the fact.
First-time clients get 50% off the second cleaning when the first is booked. No promo code, no catch.
Get a real number in about a minute with our instant quote tool, or call 515-513-3187 and we will walk through it.
